Trudi Frank was born in Gunzenhausen, Germany. To escape persecution by the Nazi regime, her family came to the United States in 1938. Settling in Los Angeles, Trudi was registered at Chounard Institute’s children’s program and began her art education. At UCLA she majored in art and received a B.A. After graduation, she was married and moved to the east coast with her husband. For a year she lived in Washington, D.C. where she began to exhibit in some juried shows (the Smithsonian, the Corcoran). After that they settled in New York where she took classes at Columbia University, The New School, and School of Visual Arts. She was married to Rudolph Frank for over 50 years. She died in Positano Italy while giving an art show.
Trudi exhibited her art in the finest shows throughout the world and was sought after by private collectors as well.

Trudi also illustrated cards for Unicef, In God’s Love We Deliver, as well as personalized illustrations for her numerous friends and colleagues including her favorite hair salon.

Just before her family left for the United States, the S.S. came to their door and destroyed most of their property and put her father in a concentration camp for a brief period. When she was 19, she chose to recall the horror of that experience as the topic of an English paper.
