BERGFELD’s actively participates in conferences such as the ASA/NCOA (American Society on Aging and National Council on the Aging) annual joint conference and NAPO (National Association of Professional Organizers) where Kristin Bergfeld has presented on the subjects of hoarding, elder care, and estate planning.  She also serves as an original member of the New York City Hoarding Task Force.

“Helping Hoarders”

In this practical session, Kristin guided professional organizers through the complex issues of working with elder hoarders, including a summary of current research, review of ethical issues, updated assessment tools, plus many “How-To’s” for working with clients who hoard, based on BERGFELD’s 20 years of experience.

The National Joint Conference of the National Council on Aging (NCOA) and the Association on Aging (ASA)

For the third consecutive year, BERGFELD’s conducted a workshop at the Joint Conference of the ASA/NCOA.  This year’s subject was:

“Elders Who Hoard; Putting Themselves, Their Homes and Others at Risk”

The workshop will cover the increased number of elder hoarders coming to public attention, and successful approaches by professionals including comprehensive research, therapies, and practical steps to take to help elder hoarders.
