Most of us know someone (or are someone) who embrace shape-shifting as we travel through life. People with so many interests and talents don’t allow themselves to be confined to one career path. And, as our longevity is increasing, thanks to modern medicine, we have more time to journey along some of those “roads less traveled”.
We have had many clients over the years who have reinvented themselves several times. Among these is Sue Kreitzman, a dynamic, colorful, and talented woman to be sure. We greatly enjoyed helping her move many of her colorful, even wild works of art from her studio in upper Manhattan to a staging area for her next showing, a house outside London, and her small flat, all in England. As the very full moving van pulled out, we imagined a rainbow aura protecting her art on its way across the ocean.
During our work for her we discovered that she authored cookbooks and was featured in a video, “Meet the Fabulous Fashionistas”. What we have learned since that time is that she played the oboe and taught young oboists, made numerous cooking videos (which are a riot of course), and met her husband over a Mexican Hat Dance in high school.
This is very much in keeping with our own views on life and aging. To quote the title of one of Sue’s books, we’d like “A Second Helping”, and maybe a third and fourth as well.
