NYC.gov has some helpful tips on junk mail reduction as well as excellent information about recycling and donating.

                       

DMAchoice.org provides consumer advice on how to be removed from many types of telemarketing and mass-mailing lists but since they are the Direct Marketing Association, they also offer plenty of reasons not to opt out.

The Consumerist published an article on this topic. It has some good information including how to remove yourself from the Val-Pak mailing list.
